We read the page without running JavaScript. If the useful content arrives only after scripts run, some agents may see very little.
Structured data
Relevant JSON-LD gives an agent explicit facts about the organisation, service, article, person or product on the page.
An action it can take
A real, clearly labelled button or link gives an agent a dependable next step. A styled non-semantic element may not.
Permission to be there
GPTBot, PerplexityBot, ClaudeBot, Google-Extended, ChatGPT-User and OAI-SearchBot all need to reach the page to use it.
Questions people ask
- What exactly does this check?
- Five things: whether structured data is present, whether your core content is in the raw HTML, whether there's a real labelled action element, whether AI agent crawlers are allowed in robots.txt, and whether your identity signals make it clear what the page is.
- Does this only work for online shops?
- No. It works for any site — law firms, SaaS, media, agencies, charities, retailers. The checks are about whether an agent can read the page and act on it, whatever the action happens to be.
- Why did my page fail to load?
- Some sites block automated requests. That is useful evidence: an AI agent may meet the same wall when it tries to read the page.
- Is this the same as the Free Signal Check?
- No. The Signal Check looks at how AI platforms describe your brand. This one looks at whether an agent can physically read and act on a single page.
